L’évolution des masques pour appareil CPAP pour l’apnée du sommeil

The evolution of CPAP machine masks for sleep apnea

From the earliest CPAP mask models to the latest products available today, it goes without saying that they have changed considerably. They are smaller, more comfortable, lighter, and quieter, much to the delight of whoever might be sharing your bed. Newer models are also easier to put on and stay in place better while you sleep, which helps improve your therapy while allowing you greater freedom of movement, regardless of your sleeping position.

Discontinued CPAP mask models

You were diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago and have become accustomed to your CPAP therapy. After several trials, you found the mask you preferred. However, CPAP masks have a limited lifespan, and you need to replace yours. To your dismay, you discover that your favorite model is no longer available. What should you do? And why are some models suddenly discontinued? Manufacturers of sleep apnea treatment products are committed to continuously bringing the latest technologies to patients for a better therapeutic experience. It is therefore normal that some older mask models are discontinued over the years.

This is the case, in particular, for the popular manufacturer ResMed , which recently announced the withdrawal of these seven (7) mask models:

  • Swift™ FX Nano (including for Her)
  • Mirage Micro™
  • Ultra Mirage™ II
  • Swift LT (including for Her)
  • Swift II
  • Ultra Mirage FFM
  • Mirage Liberty™

In doing so, ResMed advised its customers that they will continue to supply these masks until stocks are depleted. Patients are encouraged to upgrade to newer mask models, which offer smaller, lighter, quieter, and easier-to-use options. We're sure you'll find them beneficial!

For each discontinued model, ResMed offers a similar alternative with equivalent but more advanced features. Below is an example for the Swift FX Nano model, which can easily be replaced by the AirFit N20. The manufacturer offers a complete downloadable guide for this purpose.
